Ashton Kutcher did get my birthday present

Ashton Kutcher celebrated his 30th birthday on February 7 at Socialista in New York City and it turns out the bartender was mixing drinks with an extra special ingredient: Hepatitis A! Nothing like getting Punk'd in the digestive tract. The New York Department of Health contacted Ashton and told him that he and his guests, which included Bruce Willis, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, should probably get a vaccination ASAP. TMZ reports:

Hepatitis A is spread by putting something in one's mouth that has been contaminated with traces of fecal matter from an infected person. Symptoms include jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Any patron who hung at Socialista is considered to be at risk, and the Health Dept. says they should get a gamma globulin shot -- pronto!

For those of you who think it's a bit cruel of me to laugh at this news, just take a good, hard look at the pics of Ashton Kutcher I included. They're from last night and I have no idea what the event is, probably the 15th Annual Douche Ball. I defy you to look at that guy and not wish the bartender was pouring drinks directly into his eye. Am I right? I'm right. You can stop punching your monitor now. He can't feel it. I've been trying all morning.

Lohan recreates Monroe photo shoot

NEW YORK - Lindsay Lohan is following in the footsteps of the most famous blond bombshell of them all — Marilyn Monroe.

In the issue of New York magazine on sale Monday, the 21-year-old star of "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" poses nude for photographer Bert Stern in a recreation of one of Monroe's most famous photo shoots, done shortly before she died.

Stern photographed Monroe in 1962 at the Hotel Bel-Air in California, six weeks before she was found dead from an overdose of barbiturates. Those images for Vogue magazine feature Monroe in next to nothing, posing nude with some scarves and jewelry as her accessories and sipping champagne.

Stern recreated those images with Lohan this month, at the same hotel, with Lohan wearing a blond wig and not much else.

In the essay accompanying the photos, Lohan, who admitted to a serious interest in Monroe, said deciding to do the photo shoot was easy.

"I didn't have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It's really an honor," she told the magazine.

Lohan described Monroe's suicide as "tragic" and said it, along with the Jan. 22 death of actor Heath Ledger from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, "are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone."

The actress, who has been in and out of rehab after two arrests last year on drunken driving and cocaine charges, said she didn't know why the industry wreaked such havoc on some stars, adding, "I sure as hell wouldn't let it happen to me."

Stern told The Associated Press that he found women like Lohan and her tabloid companions Paris Hilton and Britney Spears "interesting."

"They're girls that draw attention to their notoriety and their celebrity through their behavior," he said Monday.

He noted that Monroe and Lohan had similar problems with alcohol but added that — in contrast to the sessions with Monroe — there was no alcohol on the set when he photographed Lohan.

He said he thought the photo shoot would be good for the young actress, giving her the chance to portray herself as a grown-up. He also lauded her for her willingness to do it in the nude.

"I thought she was a natural, not at all squeamish," he said.

A phone message left for Lohan's publicist Leslie Sloane-Zelnik seeking comment Monday was not immediately returned.

Paris Hilton drunkenly sings in Boston

Paris Hilton got trashed last night and decided to regale patrons at The Estate in Boston with a rendition of her song "Stars are Blind." Except as soon as Paris got on stage she had a "wardrobe malfunction" and showed the crowd some boob. So these poor people not only had to see Paris' tits but then had to listen to her sing? Jesus. I'd ask for my money back. Or pull my classic hop over the bar and empty the cash register maneuver. Although it's not very effective. But one time I actually pushed a button before the bartender threw a beer stein at my melon. I no longer have night vision.

Video after the jump. It's pretty shitty quality but then again so is Paris Hilton. What're ya gonna do?

Spice Girls Cancel Rest Of World Tour

The Spice Girls have decided to drop the rest of their world tour which includes Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina due to reports of poor sales at some concerts. The tour will now end in Toronto on Feb. 26th.

“Sadly the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria,” the group said in a statement.

My guess is that Posh got her robot-panties in a bunch and decided that she “couldn’t” do the tour anymore. Although I am surprised they made it this far. Who the hell wants to see them anyways?

Rihanna Checks Out Proenza Schouler Show

With the final few days of the Mercedes-Benz New York City Fashion Week upon us, the stars are out in record number clamoring for a glimpse of what’s hot. And Rihanna is making sure she’s on top of the latest fashion trends.

The “Umbrella” singer was spotted at the Porenza Schouler fall line show last night, looking mighty dapper herself as she hob-nobbed with the usual haute couture crowd.

She wore a tank-style top with a black, silver, and gold striped pattern along with a black patterned above-the-knee mini skirt.

The Proenza Schouler fall line was characterized by “daring mini-dresses, metallic coats, mixed-fabric garments, and a palette of mustard yellow, purple, green and blue with the requisite black, gray, and winter white.”

Rihanna Enters the Umbrella Market

While she’s been an admirer of the various Mercedes Benz Fashion Week shows over the past few days, on Tuesday, Rihanna changed gears to take care of some promotional duties.

In a move that marketers just couldn’t avoid, the Umbrella singer found herself doing press for her new umbrella line from Totes at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City.

Wearing a sexy black outfit along with a matching scarf and a pair of orange heels, the Barbados native posed for pictures and signed autographs for fans lucky enough to sneak their way up front.

From here, Rihanna is scheduled to perform at a pre-Grammy fashion show on Thursday, followed up by her much-anticipated appearance at the 2008 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 10).

Britney Spears is Probably in a Padded Room

Britney Spears’ 72-hour hold at Stewart & Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital has been extended to 14 days at the request of her psychiatrist, sources have confirmed. And what a nice place it is! People reports:

The Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital is known as one of the top facilities of its kind; still, “It is a terrible situation,” says a source close to the Spears family. “Britney is in a padded room. Her family is so worried about her.” Terry K. Wasserman, a veteran L.A. attorney specializing in mental health cases (who’s not involved in the Spears matter), explains that if a patient becomes combative, he or she “could be placed in a ‘quiet room,’ some of which are padded.” Wasserman adds: “Another possibility is being confined to a bed by leather restraints. In extreme, life-threatening situations - when the patient is a threat to oneself or medical staff - a psychiatrist can inject a person with psychotropic medication.”

Man, this place seems pretty cool. Let’s hope Britney attacks a nurse. That sounds like it would be great. Because the thought of Britney Spears in a stick collar talking to demons like Mary Poppins while she’s getting tasered just puts me in a good place emotionally.

Jolie collects award for ‘Mighty Heart’

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - traveled up the California coast to receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s “Performance of the Year” award.

The 32-year-old actress was honored Saturday for her portrayal of Mariane Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, in the film “A Mighty Heart.” It’s one of numerous awards Jolie has received for the role, but among the few she’s personally collected.

“To be honest, I just heard that it was a beautiful festival, and one to take seriously,” Jolie told Associated Press Television News.

The award was presented by Clint Eastwood, director of Jolie’s upcoming drama “The Changeling.”

“Clint Eastwood? A Don’t get me started,” Jolie said. “I could talk forever about him. I could turn the whole evening into a Clint Eastwood evening. … I think he’s just a genuinely great guy. He’s nice to everybody on set.”

Jolie arrived with her partner, Brad Pitt, who did not speak to the media but briefly posed with Jolie for photos.

She said dealing with the insanity of Hollywood is much easier with Pitt and their children at her side. “I think it’s the only way to juggle it,” she said.

Besides her film career, Jolie, who won an Oscar for her part in the 1999 film “Girl, Interrupted,” keeps busy with humanitarian efforts at home and abroad, including work with the United Nations as a goodwill ambassador.

Her friend George Clooney was recently named U.N. messenger of peace, but Jolie said she didn’t have a clue what he should expect from the gig.

“I’m not sure exactly what his position is and what he’s gonna do,” she said. “But I know his heart is in the right place, and he’s truly committed.”

Jolie, who wore a black blouse and loose-fitting floor-length skirt, looked lean and not obviously pregnant. Publicists asked the media not to question her about reports that she may be with child again.

Jolie and Pitt have been tabloid staples since they began shooting “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” in 2004, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston but a romance with Jolie was blooming on the set.

What does Jolie think it will take for the press to move beyond their off-screen life and onto more significant things?

“I think it’s going to take, partly, people wanting to learn those things,” she said. “I mean, I know, that’s what I look for when I wake up in the morning ƒƒ‚‚ when I go online or when I get the paper. And you can find it if you’re looking for it. And you can avoid silliness if you want to. So it’s a personal choice of each individual.”

‘Hannah’ holds box-office sway with $29M

LOS ANGELES - First, she sells out a nationwide concert tour. Now and pop-star alter-ego Hannah Montana are selling out movie theaters in such record-breaking style that the film’s run has been extended.

“Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” the 3-D film chronicling her recent tour, was the biggest debut ever over Super Bowl weekend, pulling in $29 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Distributor Disney planned to have the movie out for only a week but now has decided to keep it in theaters until it runs its course.

The concert film featuring 15-year-old Cyrus both as herself backstage and as her Disney Channel character, pop sensation Hannah filled the void for fans unable to catch one of the live shows on the Hannah Montana 54-date tour.

The digital 3-D technology also gave fans the illusion of practically being at a live show, said Mark Zoradi, president of Disney’s motion-picture group, who visited several packed theaters where the movie played over the weekend.

“The screaming level was unbelievable. It almost plays like a concert. At the end of a song, you have audiences clapping like you do at a concert,” Zoradi said. “Parents who weren’t able to get concert tickets, now they were able to take their kids and satisfy that demand, and kids were in a way able to be up close and personal, with the best seats in the house.”

The film surpassed the previous Super Bowl record of $21.6 million set by “When a Stranger Calls,” which opened over the same weekend two years ago.

Lionsgate’s “The Eye,” a remake of the Japanese horror hit, opened at No. 2 with $13 million. “The Eye” stars Jessica Alba as a blind concert violinist whose vision is restored by a corneal transplant that also results in terrifying visions.

Desperate Housewives” co-star Eva Longoria Parker delivered a dud with her first top-billed movie, “Over Her Dead Body,” which opened with a weak $4.6 million to finish at No. 11. Distributed by New Line, the movie stars Longoria Parker as a dead woman whose ghost tries to break up a romance between her fiance (Paul Rudd) and his new girlfriend.

Playing in just 683 theaters, “Hannah Montana” broke another record: never before has a movie in so few cinemas premiered at the top of the box office chart.

The movie averaged a whopping $42,460 a theater, compared to an average of $5,337 in each of 2,436 cinemas for “The Eye” and about $2,327 in each of 1,977 theaters for “Over Her Dead Body.”

The grosses for “Hannah Montana” were boosted by higher admission prices many theaters charged because of the 3-D format. Tickets for “Hannah Montana” ran as high as $15, roughly 50 percent more than the top price for other movies.

The success of “Hannah Montana” showcased the commercial prospects for an upcoming wave of 3-D releases, both new movies such as this summer’s adaptation of Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and rereleases such as the first two “Toy Story” films in 3-D versions.

Digital projection allows sharper and more realistic images than old-fashioned film 3-D, a 1950s fad revived only occasionally over the decades. Now, many big studio films come out in 3-D versions.

Those releases typically do three times more business than 2-D versions, said Michael Lewis, chairman and co-founder of Real D, whose digital-projection 3-D technology was used in most theaters showing “Hannah Montana” and will be used in an upcoming wide release of another concert film, “U2 3D,” now playing in limited release.

The 3-D technology eventually could expand turn theaters into venues showing live concerts and sporting events, Lewis said.

“There are a lot of places, a lot of small towns where we have Real D in place where U2’s not going to go, Hannah Montana’s not going to play there,” Lewis said. “They’ll be able to see it in theaters, and in my view maybe with a better seat and better experience than if they were actually there live.”

Hollywood’s box-office roll continued, with the top-12 movies taking in $101.5 million, up 43 percent from Super Bowl weekend a year ago. Movie attendance so far this year is up nearly 11 percent, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” $29 million.

2. “The Eye,” $13 million.

3. “27 Dresses,” $8.4 million.

4. “Juno,” $7.5 million.

5. “Meet the Spartans,” $7.1 million.

6. “Rambo,” $7 million.

7. “The Bucket List,” $6.9 million.

8. “Untraceable,” $5.4 million.

9. “Cloverfield,” $4.9 million.

10. “There Will Be Blood,” $4.8 million.

Britney Spears custody hearing postponed

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A hearing in the child custody battle between Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was postponed on Monday because the troubled pop star remains hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation, media reports said. The hearing was scheduled after lawyers for Spears, who has lost custody of her two young sons to Federline, sought visitation rights with the boys.

The celebrity Web site reported the hearing was postponed because Spears, who on Thursday was taken to UCLA Medical Center for a 72-hour mental evaluation, had been ordered to remain there another two weeks.

A hearing on the hospitalization was scheduled later on Monday.

One day after Spears, 26, was hospitalized, a Los Angeles court granted her father, Jamie Spears, and attorney, Andrew Wallete, temporary control of her assets, including her house.

In addition, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has issued a restraining order to keep Spears’ self-styled manager and confidant, Sam Lutfi, away from the performer.

Lutfi has been seen with Spears almost constantly in recent months as her personal life has spun out of control.

Los Angeles police are investigating a theft report filed on Friday by Spears’ father, a police spokeswoman said. She said several personal items were reported taken from her home.

Spears, a former Disney child star and chart-topping singer, has seen her personal life descend into turmoil since she filed for divorce from Federline in 2006.

The Louisiana native was hospitalized in January for a mental evaluation after going into hysterics when Federline’s representatives tried to retrieve their children after a visit.

Spears’ antics have drawn nearly constant attention from paparazzi. Two weeks ago, four photographers were arrested on suspicion of reckless driving while trailing her.

It cost local authorities $25,000 to keep photographers at bay during her trip to the hospital last week, police said. On Friday, one Los Angeles city councilman proposed a municipal ordinance to restrict the paparazzi’s movements when photographing stars in public.
